Pitukëna (Milkweed) ~ Flower Essence
Our native relative, Pitukëna (Milkweed) flower essence is our teacher of inner sovereignty, supporting us in our process of reclaiming our autonomy, medicine, and life. Milkweed, shares a deep relationship with Monarch butterflies, which is reflected in their service of supporting our souls emergence, through the pain and beauty of transformation like the Monarch emerging from their chrysalis. They can uplift our Spirits courage to unfold into our highest expression. The flower essence medicine, is a counterforce in the energetic realm to the medicinal properties, they can support us on a physical and spiritual level. Ex: milk used to remove warts/fungus on a physical level and on an emotional/spiritual level they are also supporting your inner journey of seeing, feeling, processing, releasing and liberating the things stuck to us that prevent our souls from shining and preventing us from moving forward in alignment with our souls mission (especially things that are not us… think social constructs, generational trauma, unhealthy environments, patriarchy, capitalism, energies of darkness). Pitukëna, traditionally was also embraced in early spring with their young leaves boiled (important to cook before eating) in soup. Their Pskwatawa (flowers) were and are used a yummy and healthy energy snack. Their milk was used to remove warts and ringworm fungus. Milkweeds in general have been a source for many things and a sacred part of Indigenous life. From food, medicine, thread for clothes, moccasins, as well as twine, protection against curses, and even as washes. Some species the roots are also used for medicine for infections, colds, etc.
